Alok Bhattacharya was an Indian Modern artist and he studied Fine Arts in Art Appreciation from Govt. College of Art and Crafts, Kolkata, 1967. He participated in national and international exhibitions and several art camps and workshops. His collections are found in Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delji Victoria Museum, Kolkata and many other private collections abroad, including the USA and Germany.
Bhattacharya primarily used acrylics and oils as his medium, with soft and visible brushstrokes. His colour palette was sober and subtle. He employed a combination of semi-abstract and semi-realistic forms, often depicting human activities. Somehow, his works were influenced by impressionism, evident in his approach to colour and brushwork.
