Bratin Khan was born in West Bengal, 1969, he is an eminent artist, who is highly influenced by Folk art, Bengal School of Art and Rajasthani miniatures paintings, evident in his brushstrokes and the way he handles colour. He graduated in painting from Visva Bharati University, Shantiniketan.
Khan's work mainly features themes from Indian mythology, religion, and folklore. He uses tempera paint and has developed a unique style over time. His figures are elegant and move fluidly, with a soft light or glow coming from their faces. His paintings have a warm, inner light. The figures seem relaxed and blend beautifully with the natural world around them. Nature is a key element in his distinctly Indian paintings, reflecting his childhood in rural Bengal.His works are poetic and inspired by myths, folklore, and religion. Using temperas and vibrant colours, his paintings glow from within. His flowing, graceful figures are set in natural surroundings. The imagery includes Buddha, Krishna, legendary icons, beautiful maidens, and lotus flowers, animals and birds.
Khan’s paintings are included in many significant private and corporate collections both in India and internationally. Those collections feature works from prominent figures and organizations, such as, Indian Parliament House, Delhi,Mr. Adani, Mr. B.K. Birla, the RPG Group, and Sony Electronics in Japan. He achieved an award from the Indian Society of Oriental Art and Culture.
