(Born-8 September, 1970)

Dewashish Das was born in Bihar, 1970. He is Indian contemporary artist and holds his degrees in art from Purnea Art College, Bihar and Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He worked with the eminent artist Shri Sukumay Mitra, who graduated from Shantiniketan and was a student of Nandalal Bose.

Das works is influenced by his surroundings and observation of tribal life in the North Bihar region where he was born. He often paints about India’s diverse tribal culture and heritage. He does this because he wants to preserve their traditions for future generations. Painting tribals gives him a lot of joy and satisfaction. Das has lived among tribals for a long time. He has learned their customs and portrays their way of life in his art. His paintings are known for including details such as caste marks, necklaces, peacock feathers, animals, and bright colours like red, green, yellow, blue, and white and which are the trademark of his paintings. Decorative elements play a crucial role in folk and tribal art, even though these artworks often focus on important stories and themes. These decorations create a lively space within the artwork's depiction of reality. These artworks, reality often moves beyond everyday life into a divine or idealized beauty. He experiments with various mediums such as, acrylics, pigments, watercolours, tempera and mix-media.

Das works was exhibited at Jehangir art Gallery, Mumbai, Art Land at Taj, Mumbai, Spandan at Oberoi, Kolkata and he has also participated in several regional, national and international exhibitions.
