Dipankar Ray was born in West Bengal, in 1971. He is an Indian contemporary artist and a graduate of the Govt. College of Art and Craft, Kolkata. Ray's works consistently evoke deep emotions, and his depictions of beautiful women are simply mesmerizing. He specializes in figurative art blended with abstract backgrounds, primarily using acrylics, but also incorporates pens, inks, and mixed media.
Ray frequently features women as subjects, often in nude or semi-nude depictions and also combined with the human anatomy of leges and hands (bones), and also explores themes, such as, the Ganga River, the mystic monsoon season, animals and birds, the song of dusk, and landscapes. His artworks reflect a deep connection with nature and often evoke a sense of dreams, imagination, or fantasy.
