Dolly Dutta was born in Kolkata, 1971. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. Dutta received Academy award in 1993. She has exhibited various art exhibitions solo and group across India and abroad.
Dutta mostly painted day-today life of rural and urban areas and social gatherings depicts along with Bengali culture. She uses of decorative patterns such as, flora and fauna, geometrical patterns, birds and also add some other elements, and she mostly paint on Silk clothes. She paints figurative works with bright and sober color palette.
