Malay Dutta was born in West Bengal, 1975, Dutta describes his painting as Indian style with a Surrealistic touch. His works offer a sense of deep peace, spirituality, and freedom, creating an immersive experience for the viewer. Dutta seeks peace through his art, inspired by the sacred phrase 'Buddam Saranam Gacchami'. In today's troubled world, he turns to Gautam Buddha for solace. His artworks always carry a message of peace. He tells his stories simply so they can easily touch people's hearts. To make his paintings special, he combines people, nature, and peace in one frame. He often uses green, blue, and red in his backgrounds.
Besides Buddha, an Indian 'local violin' player also captures his imagination in one of his paintings. The musician's peaceful focus on his music is shown clearly in his perfect posture. His primarily pastels as a medium and his colour palette is vibrant.
His mostly works are figurative with semi- abstract style. He exhibited his works in Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh and abroad. He influenced by many renowned artists’ works, such as, Bikash Bhattacharjee, Sanatan Dinda, and European artist, Leonardo Da Vinci.
