MICKEY PATEL

Artist

(1941-1994)

Mickey Patel was a Pakistani cartoonist and illustrator as well as painter and designer. He was born in Lahore, Pakistan, 1941 and he studied Economics from St. Stephen College, Delhi. Patel began his career in advertising, working with companies like Lintas, Thompson, ASP, and Clarion. Eventually, he developed an interest in illustrating children's books, which had a big impact on young people and led him to become a freelance illustrator and cartoonist. He has sketched and painted the great man many times in his work

Patel illustrated children's books like Ruskin Bond's Snake Trouble and Sigrun Srivastava's The Ghost Rider of Darbhanga. He created his own book, The Story of a Panther, was published after his death. He also worked with the National Book Trust along with other New Delhi illustrators. He was passionate about illustrating and worked as an independent illustrator for the media industry, a cartoonist for daily newspapers, and a children's book illustrator for the publishing industry.

Patel work received the well-known Noma Concours award from UNESCO for picture book illustrations in 1978, 1984, and 1986.

Mickey Patel passed away in 1994.
