Saumya Bandyopadhyay was born in Pune, 1975. He is an Indian contemporary artist. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata in 2000 and his Master’s degree from College of Art, New Delhi in 2002. Additionally, he completed a B.Com. (Hons.) Calcutta University, Kolkata in 1995. Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across India and abroad and has received awards for his works.
According to Bandyopadhyay, "extinction or annulment of every single entity in this cosmos is the cause of the next beginning." In his view, every beginning is a form of destruction, and destruction is the fundamental driver of creation. This profound concept of cyclical continuity is vividly depicted in his paintings, expressed through diverse forms, shapes, and colors. The vibrant colors he employs create intricate textures, adding depth and glory to the themes of his artwork, making his pieces truly striking.
Bandyopadhyay's artwork reflects the connection between dreamers and their dreams. He skillfully portrays the surreal and fantastical world of dreams on canvas, blurring the boundary between reality and imagination. He uses of oils, acrylics, pen and ink, pastels, charcoals and his color palette quite bright and soothing. He is currently work on his new series work ‘Bull’.
