Sekhar Rajan Kar was born in Kolkata, 1961, and he is an eminent Indian artist. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, and Master’s degree in Visual Arts from the same university.
Kar's paintings show men and women surrounded by twisting colours, with empty eyes that seem like deep holes. This allows viewers to interpret the emotions in many ways, evoking a sense of sadness and mystery. He uses various mediums such as, oils acrylics and mix media and experimenting with human figures and conveys his thoughts through with realistic to abstract works.
Kar’s works displayed in private and museum collections, corporate houses and offices and galleries. He has had ten solo shows and has participated in over a hundred group exhibitions including at some of the very prestigious galleries in India and abroad.
