According to Broota, “she has inspired so many artists and teachers throughout her career because inspiration for you always an important to develop but that didn’t stop her to do her own kind of work, that is the beauty of it.” She always paints for herself first and last foremost.
Broota has worked in many different styles. She started with portraits, then worked in woodcuts and etchings in the 1970s and 1980s. Recently, she has focused on oil and acrylic paintings and relief' works. In these, she uses materials like fabric, thread, silk, or wool, sometimes hand-knitted, stretched across the canvas to make detailed grids and patterns. Broota's canvases have a calm and simple appearance. Her abstract forms invite meditation without a story, her lines have a gentle rhythm, colors are rich, and surfaces have a complex yet moving texture. Her artworks show rhythmic reflections and lines with soothing colors. This comes from her art journey and practice as a musician, where she understands rhythms. She paints using these techniques, with rhythms expressed through repetition and geometric patterns.
Broota has shown her works at many national and international exhibitions and workshops. She has received fellowships from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. She achieved the All-India Fine Arts and Crafts Society award in 1982 and the Sahitya Kala Parishad award in 1986.
